Gen 21:1-8 -- the Birth of Issac
All said they couldn't have children, But God fulfilled his promise , Abraham remained in faith continued to believe
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength ... just as Abraham did .. Isa 40:28-31
God Tested Abraham ( Gen 22:1 - onwards )
* Abraham waited 25 years to get Issac , and now the lord was asking him to sacrifice his son .
* What was going on the mind and heart of Abraham when the Lord asked him to sacrifice his son .
One reason i believe God tested Abraham , was to know how if Abraham loved God more than the blessing from God .
Gen 4: 4- 14
This entire chapter talks about how abraham obeyed God's Wish to sacrifice his son, Abraham was well aware that Issac was to be his heir -- for the future generations to come , and so we see in verse 5 -- Abraham tells his servants that we will to worship and be back
We need to admire the faith of Abraham, because he knew that either God would raise up Issac from the dead or God would provide for a lamb for the sacrifice -- because its said that we will be back .
Do we have the faith like Abraham to give up something God is asking us to give up ( something we hold very precious to our lives ) It Could be you friends , your games ... worthless time spent on TV..... internet
Cause there are times when God ask us to give up the Good in life ..... only to give us the best in store for us .
How does Luke 9:23 speak to you . ( deny your self take up your cross and follow Me ) ?
Obedience and Faith
Obedience
In Gen 4: 4- 14 we see that at every point on the 3 days journey Abraham's faith remained strong .
Issac asked him so many questions on where are we going , where is the sacrifice .. but at every stage , Abraham didn't lose hope ... Even at the time of building the alter he had hope that the Lord would provide .
Till the very end he obeyed .
I don't think any one of us has such great faith like Abraham , But God is not looking for Great Faith , He is looking for seeds of obedience -- ( Abraham seed faith grew over time )
Faith
The second aspect to God's test in Abraham life was his faith .
James 2:21-22 says that faith and Action ( obedience ) go hand in hand .
Abraham's obedience showed his faith ;& Abraham's faith enabled his obedience .
Faith to study is a very vast Biblical topic , but the simplest definition the bible gives us in Heb 11:1
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
We just need to see beyond what we can humanly understand and believe that God is working for our God in the background .
Let us End this lesson by thanking God of his favour on our lives ; that our God is really our Johova Jireh who supplies all our needs .
